Let’s set the record straight:
Dieting is a TEMPORARY form of restriction to achieve a goal. (i.e. weight loss or gain, or detoxifying, etc.) Healthy recipes are a great way to make some of your favorite foods more body-friendly than some of their mainstream, convenience-centered alternatives. Balance means making choices that are nutritious (live-giving and fueling for the body), and as non-toxic (least harmful and taxing on the body) as possible. Wise food choices and recipes don’t have to be restrictive to be healthy- just creative and informed!
Selecting a diet to commit to in order to lose weight can be like navigating uncharted waters…
There are countless dangerously restrictive diets that produce more rapid (but often only temporary) weight loss, and they often come at the price of energy-loss and sub-par health and nutrition. If you know that you need to lose weight, then you are aware that you need to be HEALTHIER. Weight-loss is a natural bi-product of wellness, but wellness is surely not always the result of weight loss! If you are serious about improving the health of your body (and yes, that includes its physical appearance), may I suggest your first pursuit not be a diet, but a determination to discover what your body needs more of- and also less of- in order to be well. Laying a foundation of consistent and functional wellness creates an environment in the body in which weight-loss and healing are no longer such seemingly massive hurdles to overcome.
I can testify that my own daily disciplines for wellness have a whole lot more to do with food choices than they do fitness activities. So remember to start where it begins: LEARN about the influence and effects food types and forms have over your body… and in doing so, you’ll find it much easier to manage your choices accordingly!
